Vintage Fitz & Floyd 1995 Harvest Home Ceramic Pitcher, 8 Inch

DESCRIPTION

A richly sculpted Fitz & Floyd Harvest Home ceramic pitcher shaped as a gathered autumn bounty. Tall green stalks and cream-yellow ears of corn form the body and scalloped rim, cinched with a modeled brown ribbon. Around the base, high-relief purple grapes, red berries, veined leaves, yellow squash or pumpkins and additional corn create a colorful, dimensional still life. The long green stalk handle arches dramatically and is crowned with overlapping ears of corn, while the interior is glazed in soft cream with green shading at the rim.

WORTH NOTING

The underside carries a printed “© FITZ AND FLOYD Taiwan” mark and an embossed 1995 copyright date, both visible in the gallery. The asymmetrical rim, modeled produce and woodgrain-like stalk texture make this as much a sculptural centerpiece as a pitcher. Ceramic identification and Harvest Home name are supported by the source; food-use suitability has not been tested.

MEASUREMENTS

The source lists the pitcher at approximately 8 inches tall. From the ruler and profile photographs, it is visually estimated at approximately 7.5 inches across from handle to spout and approximately 5 inches deep. Width and depth are estimates; capacity was not supplied.

CONDITION

Pre-owned with light surface wear and scattered small glaze marks visible in the photographs. A small white nick or area of glaze loss is visible low on one side near the raised fruit. No large break is apparent in the supplied overall views, but the complex raised decoration, scalloped rim and handle should be reviewed closely in every image.

STYLE NOTES

Center it on a Thanksgiving sideboard with bittersweet branches, use it to anchor a harvest mantel, or let it stand alone where the modeled details can be seen from every angle. Its greens, golds and grape purple pair beautifully with linen, dark wood and burnished brass.
